Standard tandem
This is what most people do: take-off at Taucho or Ifonche in Adeje, about 15–20 minutes in the air and a landing towards the coast when the wind allows. It works as a first flight and has the most time slots and hotel pickups.
Who it suits: first-timers, families (check each flight’s minimum age) and anyone who wants to see the coast without manoeuvres.
Long duration
You pay for more time in the air: listings mention up to 30–35 minutes. The pilot uses thermals to stay up, so it depends even more on the day’s conditions and is not guaranteed.
Who it suits: people who enjoy the scenery and calm more than adrenaline.
Acrobatic
It includes manoeuvres such as wingovers and spirals. It is shorter or, in one listing, “sells the experience rather than time”. One states that manoeuvres are done with the passenger’s consent.
Who it suits: people who have flown before or know they handle motion sickness and G-force well.
At sunset
We found only one listing offering it as a dedicated product, with photos and video included. The exact time and whether the flight coincides with sunset depend on the day.
High mountain (north)
Listings advertise a take-off at about 2,200 m in the Teide area and a landing in Puerto de la Cruz, with around 3 hours in total. The National Park management plan approved in December 2025 treats aircraft take-offs inside the park as incompatible, so confirm with the operator where flights take off today. Details and sources.
Paratrike
A paraglider wing attached to a wheeled, motorised trike. It takes off from the ground without running, flies for a set time (20 or 25 minutes, or a tour of about an hour) and does not need a hillside. One listing notes the operator has a single paratrike, so passengers fly in turns.
Who it suits: people who cannot or do not want to run at take-off, or who want a longer coastal route.
Paragliding, parasailing and paramotor
- Paragliding: an unpowered wing that takes off from a hillside and glides.
- Paramotor and paratrike: the same wing with an engine on the pilot’s back or on a trike.
- Parasailing: a parachute towed by a boat. We do not compare it here.
How to choose in four steps
- First flight? A standard tandem in the south (or the Puerto de la Cruz coastal flight if you stay in the north).
- Want more minutes? Long duration or an Ifonche take-off.
- After thrills? Acrobatic, if you handle motion sickness well.
- Can’t run? Paratrike, checking with the operator first.
